The large (8 ft diameter) 3-D bas-relief ,  24K gold leaf gilded medallion  shown above, is one of two identical Federal seal gold eagle signs installed at the top of a new Federal courthouse for the Middle District of  Tennessee, 50 ft above street level. . This beautiful and elegant medallion was made by mounting with screws and adhesive  3 inch thick High-Density-Urethane panels carved in 3-D bas relief on a structural backer made of  aluminum plate 0.5 inch thick The sculptured HDU was then gilded with two layers of 24K gold leaf and clear coated. This 800 lb medallion is supported by 4 aluminum side brackets welded to the aluminum backer and attached to the concrete pillars with drilled concrete anchor bolts.
